Random pictures from around the farm

Pictures don't always fit into their own posts, so here are some random ones from the last few weeks.

We have a few too many of these around.

I know what is getting the guinea eggs.

Yes, that is a house being built right next door. Even in the country neighbors feel the need to build too close.

Feeding time at the zoo.

In other news, I found a nest of 11 chicken eggs. I have no idea how long they've been there (I think less than a week) and it's been in the 90s so those are all wasted. At least I know a new place to look now. If they would just stick to one spot! I also stopped milking the goat, it wasn't worth the frustration. Everyone is doing well and I'll post newer pictures of Callisto soon. She's getting really big!

Pretty pics! but YIKES! I detest black widows! We have too many around our house too.

Sorry about your nest of 11 eggs that you didn't find. :( Did you float them to see if there were any that could be salvaged? Sometimes they'll still be good. Heaven knows my chickens love to look for new places to lay. It feels like an Easter egg hunt every day!

Floating will just tell you how old they are, not if they are rotten right? I'm pretty sure they are less than a week old, but it's been so hot I could believe they would be bad. I still have them, so I'll probably use them for us but check them really carefully after I open them. I won't sell them!

I cannot imagine living with snakes and spiders. I guess moving some place warmer is out. Hope you did away with that guy after you took his picture.

I am so glad the mystery of the guinea eggs has been solved. Not that I'm happy to see a snake eating them, but at least you now know what has happened. Bad snake!!!

I killed the spider, not the snake. Snakes are good for rodent control. Black widows are good for nothing.

I can truly relate to the milking issues. I can hardly wait to wean Millie's babies so I can milk again. Dolly is almost trained, but she's starting to dry up already.

I may try milking her again after she weans Callisto. The shared milking wasn't working well at all.

Jolene, that spider is poisonous. It won't kill you if it bites you but it will be unpleasant. I don't like them, but I don't freak out either. The snake is harmless.
