We have a hummingbird that comes by everyday to eat. He generally comes around the same (within an hour), but I've had a lot of trouble getting a picture of him. He definitely eats and runs! But I finally managed to get a few pictures of him, they aren't very good...
The first picture is to zoomed out to see the hummingbird but does give a good overview of our backyard. You can see the deck with my container veggie garden, the drying rack, my hybiscus that I rescued from the neighbors trash about a year ago (I love that plant) and of course the hummingbird feeder. In the back corner you can see my butterfly garden, the bird feeders, and the woods behind the house which are infested with japanese honeysuckle which we are slowly removing.
Here he comes!
Bingo, food!
And this has nothing to do with the hummingbird but I like the way it is ripening.

Neat! You captured a hummingbird in a photo -- I'm impressed!
Also, I'm jealous of your back yard. :o)
I haven't seen any hummingbirds in our yard this year, but last year I saw one and I almost killed it.
I was walking out the front door to go into the garden and the hummingbird was flying to the azaleas which line the front of the trailer. When I opened the door, it flew into the screen and fell to the ground. I ran down the stairs to see if it was ok just when it got up to fly away. Certainly it (and I!) were shocked.
Now that i think of it, that was the last time I saw it! No wonder its never come back.
Your yard looks beautiful and inviting! How cool to have a picture of your hummingbird friend!
Color me impressed, I have always had hummingbird feeders and the birds around, but I have NEVER managed to snap a picture of one on the hop! Very cool.
I wandered over here from Crunchy Chicken and wanted to wish you good luck on the wrap pants. (I've made the pants so many times I finally broke down and make a fabric pattern piece so I could keep the paper one nice!)
Nice site, I'll be checking for updates.
Thanks for all the compliments on my yard. I've been so wrapped up in wanting to move to a small farm that I've been taking my yard for granted. I've put a lot of work into making my yard something I enjoy. I've put in 2 wildlife gardens and taken over the deck will all my stuff. I've done all I can in this yard because of the deed restrictions in the neighborhood which is a big reason I want to move. But I will appreciate my yard more for whatever time we have left here!
And thanks for the comments on the hummingbird pictures. I tend to be too hard on myself when it comes to photography so I wasn't very happy with the pictures, but I'm re-thinking my initial judgement.
