I've received many emails on this issue as well as a comment from Erikka. The USDA is considering a proposal to regulate the growing of leafy greens. If anyone knows anything about the top one concerning dairy products I'd be interested in hearing about it.

Wow. I just went and read the proposal. It seems to be the same mentality as is prevalent in the livestock industry. Regulate everybody - even the smallest producers whose product goes straight from the market garden to the customer - to prevent an outbreak of a disease that usually only occurs at the mass-produced level...

Pichinde - I often feel helpless too with all the stuff going on with our food supply. The best way I've found to combat that feeling is to take action. I write my representatives, make comments during open comment periods and get my food from as many local farmers as possible. As soon as we move, I'll be growing/raising most of our food and that will make me feel a lot better about the whole thing.
