A perfect morning

Today was a perfect morning. It was in the low 60s, no wind, crystal blue skies. I decided to sit with the goats and pet them for a bit. My sweet boy Orion climbed into my lap like he used to do when he was little. We cuddled for 10 minutes. All I could hear was the birds singing, the chickens cooing, and Orion chewing his cud. It was perfect! I am so lucky to get to live here.

Then the peace was broken by a cacophony of excited clucking from many chickens. Further investigation showed that Buttercup had finally laid the long awaited egg! Woo Hoo! We have eggs again. I know the new girls are going to lay soon too.

Life is good in Northern Georgia.

Yay Buttercup! And yay for you that you are able to live your dreams, Christy. Thanks for checking in as I was worried since it's been a while and I've seen so much devastation on the news about GA's rains and flooding. I'm glad you all are safe....and dry! :)

Lisa, I posted because of your last comment. Thank you for thinking of us! We got a lot of rain here but no flooding. The weather is absolutely perfect now! The goats are in heaven, they hated the week and a half of non-stop rain.

Hurray for eggs! We have three out of ten laying now.

Perfect moments like you described are wonderful. Last night I had a few minutes before dark and spent I it petting my sheep. Watching the hens wander in the grass, finches in the sunflowers, and the sheep being calm and content being around me. Ah, smiles.
