Many of you probably forgot that we got a little angora doeling a few days before Callisto was born. Ursa Bear has been neglected on this blog, but don't worry, not in real life.
When we got her she was very shy and scared of us. After Callisto was born, part of my morning routine started including sitting on the ground so Callisto could climb all over me, eat my hair, and fall asleep in my lap. Ursa watched from a distance for the first week then slowly started coming over to me. I guess she figured if the little baby trusted me enough to fall asleep in my lap then she probably didn't need to be scared of me.
Now she comes over every morning as soon as I sit down. Callisto jumps on me and acts like a baby goat, while Ursa stands quietly in front of me and lets me pet her. She is so calm and gentle, I never knew a goat could be calm and gentle. In case you can't tell, I adore this little girl.
She and Callisto have become pretty close. For those of you with angoras, do they ever play or jump on things? Callisto has been jumping on the big spools for over a week, but Ursa has never gotten on any of the spools. She also never plays head butting games even though Callisto tries to get her too. I just want to make sure she is ok.

She is really really cute!!!!
How's the milking coming along?
Ugh. Io is not cooperative. She seems to think the milk is for Callisto and not for me. I'm thinking of quitting but will keep trying a little longer. My last doe was so much easier to milk.
I would try the goat hobbles used as Molly has on her website before giving up. Just an idea... hope it helps. I so want to see you succeed!
how furry! she is adorable.
Love your t-shirt.
Ursa is so cute.I love her fur :) Callisto is a little cutie also. I love seeing the pictures of your goats. But then again I love your goats :)
I would kill for such a lovely, mellow goat! She's beautiful.
BTW-LOVE the shirt...
Ursa Bear is adorable!
My husband's work in Delaware got me the shirt before we moved here. His going away party was a John Deere theme since we were moving to a farm.
Linda, I've been thinking about trying hobbles. I may have to.
Oh, she is a beautiful little girl. I've never had angora goats, but she could make me want one.
Ursa is so adorable!!! She makes me think of a poodle ;-)
I just found out that we can have 2 goats in the city limits. YAYAYAYAYAYAY But first, we have to buy our own house. Don't know that our landlord would want us putting goats in the backyard.
I don't remember, what breed is Ursa? Is she just an Angora? or a mix?
Ursa is beautiful, Christy. I love how she loves cuddling in your lap! Unfortunately, I don't have any experience with that breed so I can't help you with what's "normal" and what's not. Looking forward to other people's answers, though!
Amy, she is a purebred angora.
she's a beautiful girl, love the blonds curls.
Mhy angora goat, Luna is not as playful as my nigerian and mini-mancha goats, but she will ocassionally play head-butting, dancing games, and will jump up onto the spool and picnik table on a blue moon.
Sorry you're going through a farming funk. It's that time of year for many because of the weather and other stuff.
Hang in there,
~Lisa
I usually catch up on blogs on my lunch hour at work and I can't play videos there. :-( I played it at home and Logan and Callisto make a very cute pair!
Love the pics of Ursa! She is adorable. Our angora goats were very quiet too, in comparison to the pygmies and Nigerians. They had come from a rescue situation so I attributed their behavior to that, but maybe all of them are that way?!
I WUB Ursa! for some reason, I thought she was a Nigora. I adore the photo of you and she "kissing". ADORABLE!
What see photos....she is beautiful..
