Baby #1 fresh out of momma. Less than 30 seconds old at this point.

More cleaning of baby #1
#1 trying to stand up.
Baby #2 is here. We were busy with #1 and didn't get many pictures of #2 right after birth.
It was an amazing and scary experience! I shook for about an hour afterwards. It is incredible how quickly they stand up and are nursing, within minutes of being born. They are already climbing all over us and trying to jump on things. Baby goats are amazing.
#2 about 20 minutes after birth.

The woman we got Io from is coming to get one of the girls tomorrow, it was part of the deal of getting Io. So, we don't know which girl we are keeping yet, but one of them will have a permanent home here.

Adorable! Congratulations!
That is an incredible experience. Congrats. They are adorable and momma looks nice and healthy.
They are...just simply amazing!
Whew! I know you are probably as relieved as I was to get through this the first time. They are awesome!!!
Amazing! I remember that same feeling of adrenaline when watching my neighbor's mare giving birth. Wow! It happened in the middle of the night, but I wasn't able to sleep until 10am the next day! So exciting!
Congrats!!!!

Lisa, it is amazing the adrenaline that comes from watching! I was prepared for something horrible to happen.
Sandy, so relieved! Now I just wonder how long it will be before I stop worrying about them.
How wonderful!! Congratulations!
Congratulations! It is something else to witness those little fellows being born and how quick they are up and nursing.
I am happy it went well.
Good luck with the baby girl you keep.
Have a great day.
Pam
the woman doesn't want "Mama" to care the the little doeling for a few weeks? So sad Mama and daughter have to be split up tomorrow. The babies are darling aren't the?
How exciting!! Congratulations!! Glad you were able to witness it, amazing!
congrats on the new babies.
~~Matt~~
they are both so cute! Whichever one you end up with, I am sure she will be a little beauty. Congrats! Nothing like new life on the farm.
Congratulations! I always loved lambing season, but even more so just a week or so later when all the babies started running around jumping and playing. They are so fun to watch. We don't have any sheep any more since we are planning on moving this year. But I can't wait til we get to where we are going and then I can get some more!
Enjoy!
word verification: indeed Just thought that was funny.
They are amazingly cute, and I love Ursa. You are so lucky to have so many goats. I would like some, but they aren't cheap to buy! (Our Nigerians go for $300. How about there?).
Congratulations! I remember watching my first baby goats being born. It is amazing!
Something to keep an eye on when one of the little girls goes to her new home ... watch the momma's udder to be sure one side doesn't get over full. You may nave to milk some out to keep it healthy. You can tell by the feel of the udder. If it has a softness, then it's probably fine. But, if it has a firmness, then it will need some of the pressure taken off my milking that side.
How wonderful! Congrats on the babies!
Congrats! I am glad that you and Logan were there to see the births. It is a part of life kids need to see first hand.
Kelly
congrats!! They are beautiful
They are so tiny! Congrats on your new babies! :)
They are very adorable. Lucky that you were able to be there when Io gave birth. What are you going to name your new baby?
Mom, good question. That will be coming later today!
Brenda, thanks. I'll keep an eye on that.
Look at you assisting with that birth, Christy! Way to go!
Congrats on the beautiful new babies. :-)
Christy they are so very cute! What are your plans on milking her?
Linda, I will start milking her next week. Callisto is nursing and I will separate them at night. So only once a day, which is much more manageable.
Yes, I agree very much with that! Once a day is so much easier than twice a day! She will probably peak around 4 to 6 weeks, although some wait until around 8 weeks to peak. I think Cali peaked around 4 weeks, but then went back down really quick. She peaked at 35 oz, but now she is giving me 29 to 30 oz twice a day when I don't have the kids on her. That is plenty for just me. The last kid will be gone in a couple of days.
