Farm Bill

The new farm bill is under debate right now. This is a great opportunity to let our representatives know that we want a farm bill that ends subsidies to corporate farms growing corn and soy. This is our opportunity to let them know we want support for small and organic farmers, we want access to healthy food that doesn't destroy the environment in growing it.

Here is an article about the farm bill and why everyone should care: http://www.sacbee.com/110/story/272049.html

This website has good sample letters to write to your representative and senators, just be sure to change where it says California to your state: http://www.calfoodandfarming.org/

Here is a webpage to find and write your representative: http://www.house.gov/writerep/

And one to find and write your senators: http://www.senate.gov/general/contact_information/senators_cfm.cfm

I've written to all of mine and hope you will too.

Thank you for putting the links.

Thank you for putting up those links. Sometimes it's easy just to not think about things like this, and then complain about them when they happen. Forewarned is forearmed, somebody smarter than I said ;).

On a different note, I wanted to let you know that I had nominated you for the Bloggers for Positive Global Change award. I think what you're doing, and where, is incredible and worthy of note.

Thanks for being an inspiration to me ;).

Hi Christy, I get Farm Bill and othwer food related info through The Center for Food Safety and I usually send letters to my reps through their email updates.

I also wanted to say thank you for directing me to the Always Unschooled group. I have joined and am checking out all the great info. It looks like a great resource for unschooling parents, so thanks again!!!

I'm glad the links were helpful. It is one of my goals this year to contact my representatives more often about stuff that is important to me.

Wendy - Thanks for the nomination! How cool. I don't feel like I'm doing much but I'm trying.

Farm mom - I'm glad you are enjoying the group. It is one of my favorite groups.
