Do you want a few delicata squash and Moon and Stars watermelon seeds?
I'm quite impressed with your selection. Looks like you plan on having a large garden. Now you will have to get that small freezer we were talking about. We've had ours for over 10 years now and love having it. Hopefully you'll be planting your garden at your new house!
How exciting to think in those terms: that you will plant some things where you are now and save the rest for the new place...your dream is getting ever closer, isn't it?
Pattie - I'd love those seeds if you have some to share. I'll have some to share too if you see anything you want.
Mom - Yep, the freezer will have to happen once we move. If we don't move this summer I won't be growing that much and our fridge/freezer combo should be fine.
Farmgirl - I sure hope the dream is getting closer, although I have to admit we were in this same spot last year at this time. We were pretty sure we were going to move last summer but we are still here. It seems pretty hopeful for moving this summer, but we shall see.
Oh! You motivate me to start my garden this year. Everything you picked out sounds perfect!
Since we just moved here back in October, and most of our time on our ranch has been spent preparing for and taking care of the animals, I just figured I'd put off a garden until next Spring/Fall.
Everyone tells me that I shouldn't plant anything up here in the mountains until April, unless I do pots first, so I suppose I still do have time. It just takes organization and planning, which I'm not sure I'm ready for.
Your garden sounds so well thought out. I hope mine will be the same one day.
By the way, I discovered some flower bulbs in my pantry and planted them outside today, even though you're supposed to do it in the Fall.
Do you think the bulbs will bloom this Spring, or will they rot away, or maybe grow next Spring?
Twinville - I don't know about the bulbs, I've never had a lot of luck with them. My guess is they will bloom next spring since I think they need the cold first to bloom. They shouldn't rot. The only bulbs I've ever really had luck with is crocuses. I'm jealous of those that have crocuses blooming already, mine haven't even started coming up yet.
