It's Official...

We're moving to Georgia! The house went on the market today. We'll be somewhere outside the Atlanta area, either Monroe or Commerce if you are familiar with the area. We can't move until the house sells so send us fast house selling energy!

The last 3 weeks have been insane here! We've repainted the whole house, including inside all the closets and pantry, we've cleaned all the stains out of the carpets (and some took a lot of work!), we've packed up about half of what we own, we re-did all the pictures and decorations, we stained the deck, and planted all new flowers. Our goal was to make it look like a model home. And I think we did it! Even the realtor was impressed with the work we did. I think the house looks really nice, but it certainly doesn't look like our home anymore.

Logan has been great with all this, he's helped so much and hasn't complained too much when the stress of it all got to Mark or I and we became unpleasant to be around. He is making his bed and cleaning his room every morning without even being asked. He is just as eager to move as I am so that helps. I'm sure we will have some sadness and trouble adjusting from him but so far he's been nothing but positive.

Here is a link to our listing if you are interested: http://www.psre.com/public/viewList.asp?ID=1.472.11982.48393.17903.19436127

The listing will be on all the real estate sites tomorrow and we should start having showings this weekend. It is all very exciting, as well as scary and sad. As much as we want to move, it is going to be hard to leave everyone and everything we know here. Luckily, I already know a few people in the Atlanta area from blogs I read. I'm so eager to meet them in person!

Wow! That is such great news. I am so happy for you. I know you have wanted to do this for quite some time now. Your house venture sounds just like mine several months ago. All the way down to the painting of the pantry. I will send you all the goos house selling juju I can muster!

I'm so excited for you guys. I'll send all the sales energy I can off your way.

Frugalmom - did you get the house sold? It has been so long since I've sold a house and the market just isn't great right now, so I'm nervous!

Thanks Stacey! We need all the good energy we can get.

The house looks terrific, just like a model. I would buy your house in a heart-beat if our jobs were located there instead of here in Wisconsin. Every day I send house selling energy your way. Hope it sells fast.

Hoooray! I hope it sells fast for you!

Don'tcha just love the way real estate agents describe your home? When we had our house in Hudson on the market, I would never have recognized it from the description.

Why the Atlanta area?

You're one step closer to that farm, yay! Here's hoping for a quick sale. ;)

My husband is being transferred to the Atlanta area. And we wanted to go somewhere where we could afford land. We can't afford it around here!

Thanks for all the good wishes, keep them coming!

Oh, Christy...it won't be long now...all your dreams are coming true, just like mine did! This is wonderful - soon we will be swapping country-life stories and animal anecdotes! We sold our home in January in a very poor market...of course, the market has dropped a bit more since then, but I believe it can be done! Your home is lovely and sounds like it is in a great family-friendly area!

Hurray! And lots and lots of luck to ya!!

Yep, we sold the house back in mid December and had a new one built. We were so happy that it sold so quickly in only 30 days. Just keep telling yourself that it only takes one person to buy your house. It may get stressful at times, but you will get thru it. Sending good house juju your way!

Actually home sales were up in February for the first time in 8 months so we are hopeful. I sure hope ours will sell in 30 days (or less)!

SOOOOO.....THIS was the BIG news you mentioned earlier! hahah

How exciting!! I bet you all can't wait to move, but are also nervous, too. Such huge changes are taking place.
I will think happy selling thoughts for you.

Don't forget to get a little help and bury Saint Joseph:

And, yes, you're right about the house not feeling like yours anymore. It looks so prefect, clean, well-manicured, and sterile...things that new buyers just love....but is not noraml for a real living family.

I have friends in the Atlanta area and have visited there a number of times. The more rural areas can be very beautiful.
Do you have a house in the ready for you there. Does hubby have a job offer there?

Please keep us posted. I'll be thinking about you and hoping the house sells quick and you all have an easy move.

Congratulations! I know the weeks leading up to this must have been very stressful... it's hard to make such drastic changes, and reduce your home to nothing more than a blank slate for others to write on...

Oh, man, I hope you do get your land. That lawn needs some clover and a few dozen weeds so bad it almost hurts me to look at it... but I'm sure you feel exactly the same way, from reading your blog. :)

Let the next adventure begin! Hurray!

Mark's company is transferring him to the plant there so he has a job lined up. They just aren't willing to buy this house if it doesn't sell, so we have to sell it. Mark was down looking at houses yesterday (he was there for business anyway). He saw a few potentials but nothing we are ready to commit to yet.

Ron - this lawn drives me crazy! We will have weeds and such at the next house!

Wow! Congrats! My sister lived in the Atlanta area for several years, and where I grew up, in Alabama, was a couple hours' drive away. We did all of the touristy stuff - Stone Mountain, Six Flags .... You probably won't be doing all of that, but it is a great area with lots of history - great for homeschooling :).

I'll be looking forward to hearing about your adventures in selling your house and moving south :).

Best of luck in this endeavor Christie! You must be bursting with happiness that your dream is finally coming true :)

Jeez..nice how you don't even mention that you will be close to your SISTER! I see, no excitement for that. Damn.

Christy said...

Closer to who? Oh yeah, my sister. Sorry about that! I blame exhaustion from busting my ass to get this house show ready. It has been a stressful 4 weeks! Once the house sells I'll be all excited about being closer to you I promise!
