Rain

Last week we got alot of rain. Our creek and the neighbor's creek flooded. Logan and I decided to go down during the height of the store to see how it all looked. We got very wet. Maybe not our smartest decision ever, but it was fun.

Here is the neighbor's creek. Usually you can't see the water from this point in our pasture. This day the water was about 1/4 of the way up his pasture.

I had a creek in my garden. That isn't normal

Our creek, way over it's banks. It is up into the pasture and everything around the creek is under water. In the summer, our creek went totally dry so this is a lot of water!

I have some videos we took of our creek during the rain, I'll post them tomorrow probably. Today, the rain finally stopped, but the farm is earning it's name! The wind is insane out there.

Lastly, I want to apologize for not reading anyone's blog for the last week or so. I'm feeling overwhelmed right now with work and just don't have time to read blogs. I'm not ignoring you all! I'm having to work during all of Logan's activities just to keep caught up. I'm not done most nights until 10 and then I have time to pop onto Facebook and that is about it. Classes end next week, so things will calm down again then.

geesh! That is a lot of water. We are getting rain here too. Wouldn't doubt if thats what some of our creeks look like in the area.

So sorry you are having such awful weather. Rising water is scary. The rain ended here this morn and the wind has picked up out of the north now. Overnight it must have gotten pretty rough because my neighbors privacy fence blew down into my yard.

Becca, that is some strong wind! We are very familiar with strong wind here.

Wow. It's too bad all that rain didn't come when you needed it this summer. Can you somehow divert it and create a pond so you can use all that excess water next summer?

We had a blizzard the night before last with 6" of snow and 80 mph winds. I truly thought my house would blow away, it was rattling and shaking so much. And the snow thunder and lightning kept me away for several hours. Strange weather so early in the season, don't you think?

I love that weather! I loved living behind a creek, so when the creek was high we got to stay home and go nowhere!

Lisa, good idea! The water has all drained off to the river, but I should think about that for next time. I can't believe we went 2 months without rain in the summer.

That storm sounds scary! I've never been in a snow storm with thunder and lightening. I can't even imagine! I am familiar with thinking the house is going to blow away though.

Rising water is very scary to me especially since we have a basement that floods. I like the idea of diverting the water. Right now we are in the midst of a blizzard and the temp is dropping and the wind rising.
