3 to go

We move into the new house in 3 weeks! This week's pictures are of the awesome run-in that come with the place. This is in addition to an attached 2 car garage. The run-in is by the garden. It is not currently fenced into the pasture, but we plan to make it part of the pasture so the animals can use it.

Back view of the run-in. I'm doubly excited about it because it already has a metal roof and full gutters so it is set up for the cistern we plan to get. Got to have water stores, especially in drought prone GA. Luckily, the cistern will be pretty close to the garden so we can use it for watering.

We close here 2 weeks from today and then start our week of homelessness.

Wow! That run-in is SWEET! Your critters are just going to be happy living there.

Do you have any ideas on which critters will start up your farm dreams?

You might as well order your chickens now, like I did. lol!
Last fall I ordered our chickens before we even closed on this house and moved in.

Everyone told me to order them in the Spring, but I buck the system always and decided I wanted chickens right off the start.

It was a little tough since the henhouse wasn't completed until winter set in, so we had to garage chickens for a while.
But it was so worth it in the end, when everyone else was ordering their chicks, and ours were already laying! :)

Oh! I meant to add that I am beside myself with excitement to see the future photos of Logan running and playing in that beautiful yard, and you with dirty hands working that huge garden!

Woot!
Woot!

ps, I do love that John Quincy Adams quote you've added to your blog. So true :)

Stacey - Thank you, we are excited.

Warren - I am going nuts! It is so hard to wait. Waiting 60 days for closing up here has been torture. 2 more weeks to go.

Lisa - We are planning on getting some adult chickens for the winter. And then ordering chicks come spring, but if that doesn't work out we will order chicks soon after getting there. I can't wait to get all dirty! We have so much planned for the first few weeks we are there.

I love the "run in". What an awesome building. So when does Logan get a ATV?

Mom - we just got him a tractor! LOL. He's going to have to wait on the ATV.

I am so excited for you!
It looks wonderful.
I am also glad to see you preparing for these droughts here.
I can remember exactly how the anticipation feels. And how it feels when you finally get there and just want to pinch yourself to see if it is real.
Good luck.
Maybe when you get settled in you can find your way down here and meet Jack & friends and see the waterwheel!
