Logan and I decided to try wood burning. It is a lot of fun!
I made the sign and Logan made the chicken. He wants to name our farm Run-Away Egg Farm. That is still up for debate but I thought it would be fun to make a sign with that name.

Great sign and chicken. Both of our sons use to love wood burning too. I still have an eagle our youngest son made years ago. Logan, I like the name Run-Awy Egg Farm. Good Job!
Wow - Logan's got a good eye. That's a better chicken than I could ever draw, much less burn, on a piece of wood! I like the name he proposes! We're in the process of trying to come up with a name for our place...it's hard!
Farmgirl_dk, it is hard to come up with a good name! We've been thinking about it for about a year. We've decided to wait until we get there just in case a name pops out at us based on the property.
Gosh! Thats an impressive first wood burning, and of course, I LOVE the chicken he did...and the name is great, too! My first was not as good as that! Wood burning is a lot of fun, though. What prompted you to start? Coming up with a farm name? Or just trying some crafty projects?
Funny story about our farm name origins, is that I never gave it any though at all. Sometimes, it's like that, though.
You've just got to wait until the name is "given' to you.
Look within your heart, life experiences, family, loves, desires. And I like your idea of getting a feel from your property once you are there. Maybe your new farm will give you the name to call it.
Good luck, and I can't wait to see what your farm name becomes. :o)
That is one good looking chicken, Logan! Maybe you will be an artist one day. It is hard to pick a name for something. I agree with waiting and letting the property help you decide.
Logan did do good with the wood burning, I was impressed. We figured we'd wait until we move and see if anything on the property jumps out at us as a name. I wanted a name that had something to do with Gaia, but Logan wants a funny name. We'll see after we get there. I know the right name will just come to us.

My daughter Ella LOVES to woodburn!
have you tried water coloring over your finished peice? it leaves a lovely woodsy vibe, not too overpowering.
Jessica - thanks for commenting! No, we haven't tried water coloring over it. We'll have to give that a try, it sounds really cool.
