Busy Day

Saturday was a busy day for us. We went to look at some llamas and to 2 different places to look at goats. We were gone from 10:30-4:30!

Here are the llamas we looked at:
They are a mom and her daughter. Logan liked the daughter but the mom wasn't very nice. She kept spitting and was hard to handle. They were only willing to sell them both together, so we declined.
At the first goat place, Logan got to play with the babies and had a great time!
Isn't he just the cutest thing ever?

We then moved on to the second goat place, which would sell us a doe in milk and a wether for a lot less than the first place. I really looked at the goats at the second place to make sure they weren't sickly or anything since they are a lot less, but they all seemed healthy. She has 3 does that will be giving birth sometime this week.
I picked out this one. It will be her second freshening. She is used to being milked. She is really friendly, has blue eyes and is polled. We are just waiting for her babies to be born.

We will also be getting a baby wether from this place. We are waiting for him to be born. He will be bottle fed by Logan and I. We should be bringing them home in about 2 weeks. I can't wait!

I really need to stop reading your blog! :-) It makes me immediately want to find a farm. I've tagged you in my first ever blog tagging because I really enjoy your pictures and stories that you share.

Did you think of names for the new additions?

Those two llamas are really pretty, but I'm glad you decided not to bring them home. As I mentioned in my e-mail, no llama should ever spit at a human for no reason, especially not for haltering and basic handling. It should take a lot to annoy a llama enough for them to spit at you, and even then, they should give a clear warning beforehand.
That Mama was definetly not the llama for you. :P

Those goats are so sweet playing and cuddling with Logan. They're Nigerians right? How nice to just hop right in with a goat in milk and a bottle fed goat, too. You guys are going to be busy! But having fun, too :D

Now it is my turn to be jealous! We, my son and I, want a couple of goats so badly. Still trying to convince my sweet hubby :-)

Sounds like you made the right choice on the llamas.

The picture of the goats climbing all over Logan is priceless!

Jennifer - We haven't decided on names yet. Being livestock, they will have space names. We hate naming things!

Lisa - I feel no doubts about not getting those llamas. They are Nigerians. I decided I wanted a doe in milk before we even moved here, so I started emailing breeders down here before we even sold our house. I can't wait to get them.

Cute, cute pics!

So what do you plan on doing with the wether?

I don't know how you managed to resist all those babies! I would have taken them all home. Your new doe looks very sweet in the face. How exciting to be bringing her home soon.

What a wonderful goat! Logan, remember all the stories about Princess? When you bottle feed a goat, it will be your child...forever.

The llama's are interesting to see.

The goat doe is cute. Good breeder? Tatoo in ear? Vaccination Record? Registered with ADGA and AGS?

Fantastic and that goat you selected is just about the cutest little bug's ear! Very sweet looking and if she is used to milking and this is her second freshening to boot, you got a great working goat!

What are you doing to do with the wether?

Wow! great new additions! I just added a Nigerian myself on tuesday, When do yours get to come home? Are they waiting on the wether so they can come home together? or just on her babies to be born then she comes and he follows later? Which doe does he get a wether out of? Any possibility it could be out of yours? Sorry, lots of questions I just think that's cool! I'm getting a baby/ies myself end of march, cant wait lol.

JLB - We're waiting on both. She only had does babies when we went before so we are waiting for a boy to be born and for our mom to give birth. He could be hers, we won't know until they are born. He will be bottle fed though. She's going to keep the doe for a week or 2 to make sure she is milking good and keep the boy long enough to get him established on the bottle and disbud him if he needs it. She is due today! I hope I get an email sometime today.

Gail - Thanks for the tag! I'll do it later today.

Jealous. Completely green with envy. That green-eyed monster has a wicked hold on me.

But I'm so happy for you! Goats! I'll be really interested to hear about your adventures with milking ;).

Do you have harness goats over there? You can train gots to pull small traps or they can be beasts of burden. Wethers can pull a greater weight than nannies. I've got some info on harness goats somewhere

I'm jealous too! I can't wait to get started on my own farm but I'm excited to watch you start yours! And I'm excited to have another farm friend here in Georgia! :)

The llamas were very pretty but I think you made the right choice too. We had a hard to handle male once and even he didn't spit at us, ever. He would spit at the goats when they annoyed him though. LOL. That is a cute kid, the baby goats are adorable too!
