A great Christmas!

I hope everyone had a great Christmas. Our was wonderful. This is the first Christmas that I can remember that I didn't spend at my Grandparent's house in Virginia. We decided to do Christmas at our new house this year, instead of driving 10 hours to Virginia. My sister came here to spend the day with us. We started with breakfast at Waffle House. A new tradition in the making.

We then opened presents and I got the coolest present ever! My very own .22. It is a Ruger 10/22, which is just the type I wanted. Somehow Mark was able to figure that out without my input at the time that he got it.
After opening presents, we went out to the back of the property and did some shooting.
I got the can on the first shot! I'm not sure you can see it but it is exploding in this picture, yeah, we did shoot at full cans. It is more fun that way LOL.

We spent a few hours outside, yesterday was warm and sunny. After a dinner of Southwestern Black Bean pasta we played games and drank wine for a few hours, including 5 rousing rounds of Clue. I have more pictures to share of our day another time. It was a wonderful day and I'm so glad my sister joined us for the day!

I love a gal that can shoot. Sounds like the sight is good. Is that the correct term? You said you hit the can at first try.

We haven't done it in years but I always liked competing in the turkey shoots (playing for frozen turkeys). Was rarely any women in the shoots, I had a good shotgun and always came home with a turkey. :-)

I don't blame ya a bit for wanting to stay in your new home for Christmas besides the older I get, the less I like running the roads.

Whoohoo! What a rebel you are, Christy. What a good shot, too.
The black bean pasta is right up my alley. I'd love to have that for Chistmas instead of a turkey. We have traditional Southwestern Posole on Christmas Eve. Yummy!

Merry Christmas Christy.

Congratulations Christy - nothing better than a good rifle. DH presented me with a 22 rifle last year for chrismtas. I was so excited. This year I gave him a new muzzleloader.
Sounds like your first christmas in your new home was terrific. I'm so happy for you.

I would love to hear more about this black bean pasta - sounds yummy.

Have a great weekend!

Sounds like you had a wonderful Christmas :) Do you suppose Mark read you Amazon wish list? Way to go Mark? You get "brownie " points for the rifle. Guess the target shooting paid off. Hitting the can on the first shot is fantastic. So did you use Joe's leftover beer for target shooting?

Joanna - The turkey shoot sounds like a good time! I'll have to look for something like that.

Lisa - I'll post the recipe soon, it was delicious!

Gail - I can't ask for anything more! It was a perfect day.

Deb - I'll post the recipe soon.

Mom - I don't think I had the gun on my Amazon wishlist. He said the guy at the gun store said this was the best beginner rifle. That is what I had heard too. We used the leftover diet Squirt as targets. I'm not sure why he left it here, you had a car and we sure aren't going to drink it!

Of course you realize if, in the future, you are even accused of any wrongdoing, it will be these pictures they choose to put on the news that night. :D

Well thank goodness I am not the only girl who gets guns for her birthday or Christmas. I got a .22 Berretta for Christmas. For my birthday one year my hubby bought me a 12gauge shotgun, and a Ruger 708 rifle! LOL! My friends think I am nuts
